October 21st was one of those rare days in Portland, when it not only rains but it rains sideways. There were flash floods that day, due to the sudden deluge. Water is not the only thing it was raining that day. Monica and Spyros made it rain paper at their reception too. You’ll see. 🙂 I will now believe clients, when I hear that they’re having a “Big Fat Greek Wedding.” Their wedding was complete with a belly dancer, greek musician, and a fight over the bouquet. I had so much fun spending the day with these two, not even the monsoon could dampen the spirits of this wedding. Congratulations Monica and Spyros, you two are magic together.

Our attempt at a Vanity Fair style bridal party portrait.

Had to up my light lighting game for this wedding. I’m loving this 3 point lighting setup.

As I promised the second rain of the day. The dance floor had to be cleaned in between dances, so that no one would slip on them dollah bills.

Have I mentioned yet that I LOVE High School Senior Photos!?!  In case I forgot to say so, I absolutely love them.  This year I was contacted by Catalina, a senior at Westside Christian. Catalina is a creative as well as an amazing athlete, and Water Polo player.  She wanted senior photos that were totally unique, so I decided to approach the shoot more like styled fashion shoot. Given that she spends most of her time in the water, we knew water had to be a big part of the shoot. I let her inspiration and excitement set in, as I brainstormed ideas and locations for her big shoot. On the day of we had so much fun exploring and taking some risks. So much so, that at the end of the night we found ourselves under a bridge down by the river, just after nightfall. Ooops.  It just seems finding myself in dodgy situations is just a part of the way I work. At the end of the day I’m tickled by the result of these senior photos. Thanks Catalina and Roxanne for your ideas, style and willingness to take it to the mattresses with river folk, should it have come to it.
